Choon Ja - Changing Up my Skincare Routine
The first time I got in touch with skincare was in winter. My mother used to cover my 4-year-old face in the thickest cream you could find, and I hated it. I didn’t like the greasy feeling and couldn’t see any benefit in using it. I just didn’t know better. I guess in the end, though, it saved my skin from the cold and kept it safe under a 5 cm thick layer of white paste.
From then on, I didn’t really care a lot about skincare. I would wash my face with water and not use anything on it...still recovering from my thick cream experience.
Working my way through the skincare aisle
Then came puberty and everything changed. I discovered that my pores were larger, found rough patches on my skin, and pimples started to appear. It wasn’t too bad at all, but for a girl at the age of 15, four tiny pimples can be a nightmare.
That’s where it all began. I tried my way through the drugstore products for acne-prone skin, dry skin, combination skin, really anything for any skin. At that time, I had no idea what my skin really needed or even what my skin type was at that time.
Most of the products I tried made my skin worse or were just a quick fix. In the long run, nothing was right for me.
As I grew older and the skincare community online grew, I started to search for things that would really make a difference. That’s when I started to discover Korean beauty. I was amazed at the different ingredients, cute packaging, and the whole culture around it.
I would say that beauty in general started to become my hobby. I found some products that worked and some which did not do the job.
Even now, I am always on the hunt for the best match for my skin, new trends, newly developed formulas, and textures.
Always looking for something new
My current skincare routine has three steps in the morning and a maximum of ten steps in the evening. I love to take my time and pamper my skin for the better! But my love for beauty products also leaves a trace of skin imbalance behind. I rotate new products through my routine like a carousel, which can end in textured skin, little pimples and irritated red patches.
The thing is, I am not ready to give up trying new things...even if I end up regretting it.
I just need to give my skin a rest and approach skincare through a system rather than mixing different brands, ingredients, and adding even more steps to my routine.
I cannot wait to try out System Akvile, because it seems to be everything my skin needs. It could be the healthy base that I’ve been looking for and a solid groundwork from where I can continue to explore more beauty trends.
