Akvile on post-pill acne and the importance of sticking to a skincare routine
I founded System Akvile in 2019. We started out as a skincare company because I was frustrated by the huge amount of products on the market that claimed to "fix" acne and that didn't actually work. Instead, I wanted to cut through the noise and create a system of products that managed every aspect of acne prone skin.
Later, in 2021, I launched the 1st app planform for acne prone skin, because I realized that skin health is not just about using the right products, but a combination of different factors like wellbeing, nutrition, routine, skincare products, and, of course, patience.
The inspiration to create System Akvile came when I quit the pill. My skin reacted really badly to the changes in my hormone levels, I struggled with breakouts and I couldn't find any products that helped. It made me feel very lonely, because I tried every single "miracle product" I could find and nothing worked.
"The idea that you could improve a skin condition in one day or a week is such a big lie, but many people believe it."
I was highly frustrated by the number of products that claimed to "fix" acne that didn't work – the idea that you could improve a skin condition in one day or a week is such a big lie, but many people believe it. I needed to create a system that managed every aspect of skin health.
I think we need to address the fact that having "clear and perfect skin" is such an unrealistic beauty standard. When it comes to acne prone skin, there will be days when your skin is breaking out, and others when it is clearing up, but it can take a long time to see results.
Instead of striving to achieve "clear skin" and emptying your bank account on new products, it's way better to target the different aspects of acne and aim to support the function of your skin health that depends not only on the jars with creams and serums but on lifestyle factors too.
Skin health is the way you feel about it.
