Ruxandra - My skincare story started in Japan
I always had a low-key skincare routine.
During my teenage years I didn’t have much of a skincare routine. I just used makeup remover followed by toner and a face scrub. I guess I thought I didn’t need a routine because I was lucky and didn’t have a lot of skin problems, just a bit of teen acne here and there, and I had a cream for that.
While I was at university, I stuck to the same routine and added a basic face cream. I tried my best to remove my make-up before sleep, but let’s face it - it’s not always easy!
Up until a few years ago, my skincare routine was pretty low key, but that all changed when I had a breakthrough in Japan!
Japan changed everything
In Japan, I discovered the real pleasure of skincare! One of the things I learned was that I should wear sunscreen every day, no matter what the weather is like. 3 years later and SPF50 still has a special place in my skincare routine!
I slowly began to add some new things to my skincare routine, like softer cotton pads, sheet masks, eye masks, eye creams and acids like hyaluronic acid, BHA & AHA. I also introduced a 1-week block of hyaluronic acid or collagen to boost my skin’s hydration.
I’m always learning about my skin
As a beauty blogger, I am always discovering and testing new products, I try everything, from all different kinds of masks, to innovative techniques like micro-needling! I push my skin a lot by trying out new things all the time, but I also learn a lot about my skin and what works for me.
I always thought I had normal skin, but I have now realised that I have combination skin, with an oily Tzone and dehydrated, sensitive cheeks
Whenever my skin goes crazy, aloe vera- based products and hyaluronic acids are my best friends, especially in the harsh winter weather.
What does skincare mean to me?
Skincare is not just for the skin on your face, but all over your body and I have started paying more attention to the skin on my neck, my hands and my feet!
I love skincare, because it’s not only beneficial for the skin and the body as a whole, but also for the soul. I find skincare routines very therapeutic and calming, and I am so happy to be on this journey.
