Eline - No routine to pro-routine!

I would classify my skin type as dry, sensitive and prone to acne.

When I was growing up skincare was not something that was considered important when. Just applying moisturizer felt like a lot of effort if I’m completely honest.

Being the typical lazy teen I would often not apply any products and sometimes would even go to bed without removing my makeup. I have seen the error of my ways now and understand that a good skincare routine goes a long way.

The pimples didn’t stop

Acne prone skin is something so many teens struggle with, so I didn’t think it was a big deal. However, it didn’t go away after puberty (due to my bad skincare habits), this is when I realized that maybe skincare was more important than I thought! After this point I became really interested in skincare and began to develop a skincare routine to give my skin the proper care it deserved.

The sensitive skin struggle

Because my skin is really sensitive, finding products that would treat my acne without irritating my face was, and still is, really difficult. A lot of products that market themselves as acne-reducing would be really bad for my dry skin. This ruled out a lot of the products I could use.

On top of that, the majority of skincare products contain alcohol and fragrance, things that pretty much always irritate my skin.

This is when I started to research online in order to become more informed about ingredients that would be beneficial to my skin.

Less irritants, more natural

I ultimately realized that I wanted to use more natural products with the least amount of possible irritants included in their formulas. Now, I'm building a skincare routine that treats my acne in the most natural way possible, and hoping to get rid of it once and for all. I have come a long way from my teenage days; I have a stable routine that I practice every day and night and I never ever go to bed with makeup on!

A good skincare routine takes time

No, my skincare routine was not formed in one day or even one week. It took a lot of trial and error and I’m still figuring things out but that’s okay!

Skincare is not a one size fits all, what works for me might not work for you. Patience is the best way to go about forming a new skincare routine - you wont pick all the perfect products the first time around. Your skin is constantly changing and you have to adapt to it on a daily basis. I’m only just starting to get to know my skin and am looking forward to discover more products that work for me.
